Boyds Return to
Panama/
Jireh School Construction Update
Rod and Sherry Boyd
We're back in Panama!
Actually we returned on May 25th. But we weren't able
to write because of the intense preparation for the CIECAD
Christian School Congress in El Salvador that took place
June 2-4.
Our attention now turns to the South America version of
the Educators Summit that will take place August 30 to September in El
Quisco, Chile, located about 90 minutes due east of Santiago, right on the
Pacific Ocean. We are expecting at least 200 educators from 9
different South American countries. Thank you for joining us in prayer
for this important event.
We enjoyed the second half of our shortened itineration.
The highlight was spending time with our new granddaughter Anastasiya Maria
McKeown. We were less than five minutes from their house. We
connected with several friends and personal supporters during our time in
Washington, Alaska and Oregon.
Monthly
support commitments are coming in very slowly! We are still lacking
around $900 in monthly support to be fully funded. We provide complete
details on our Support Page.
Jireh School. Even though we had
just two months this spring, we were able to visit several churches
including three--Shoreline Community Church, Portland Christian Center and
Eastridge Church (Issaquah)--that had sent a total of five of the seven
teams that building the four story Jireh School. What an incredible
opportunity it was to be able to share the difference their investment has
made. Even though the school is still lacking a floor of classrooms,
it has grown from 380 when construction started in May 1997 to 584 this
year!
More than $10,000 was given to this project during our 5
months of itineration. We thank each church and individual that
contributed. What a difference you have made! This allowed us to
complete the 3rd floor classrooms, stucco and base paint the inside walls on
the 4th floor, and stucco the entire outside of the building and paint the
primer coat.
What's left? We are not that far away! We
need to paint the outside of the building, then finish the 4th floor
classrooms and restrooms: paint, electrical (lights, plugs and fans), floor
and ceiling tile, windows and doors. There is still some work to do on
the 1st floor administrative area. We still need about $10,000 more to
finish all of this work.
