Construction continued at the
Jireh Good Shepherd School with the arrival of the
Christ’s Fellowship MAPS team from Double Springs,
Alabama, lead by Pastor Mike Joyner. The team of 14
included 13 men and women and one high schooler from
four different churches, including a pastor from
Mississippi.
The team’s main focus was laying
block for the exterior and interior walls for the
third story. The team also formed and poured several
bond beams in addition to some “high up” block work
on the second story. In total, they were able to
finish the equivalent of three classrooms during
their week of work.
The team ministered in a chapel
in the middle of the week. Pastor Rick Smith shared
a devotional on resisting the devil with the 400
children and youth present. The team presented two
trunks of school supplies, toothbrushes and
toothpaste for the children, and a couple of soccer
balls. They also presented each child and young
person with a bag of candy at the end of chapel. The
team also left vitamins and other medical supplies
that will be sent to our two Guaymi Indian schools:
Duima and Soloy. The school gave a small gift to
each team member.
The chapel really helped the team
connect with the children. They also brought several
bottles of soap bubbles and enjoyed time interacting
with the kids. We are very thankful that three team
members chose to sponsor one of the Jireh School
children.
The farewell service on Friday
night was powerful. Amy, one of the team members,
shared in music. Pastor Mike preached an anointed
message about the importance of unity in the church.
It was a prophetic word for the church, reminding
the congregation that they must stand together to
reach out to the community around them. Pastor
Johnny Saucedo thanked Pastor Mike and the team for
their good ministry and said, “You are an answer to
our prayer.” The congregation lingered after the
service, visiting with the team.
Pastor Mike and team, thank you
for your humble, serving spirit. Thank you for being
so generous, not only giving things, but more
importantly, sharing your lives with the children,
youth and teachers from the school, and with the
Panamanians that worked alongside you.
Please pray that every need would
be met to complete construction of the Jireh School
by the end of the year. We have two additional
building teams that will be coming. But we need
additional construction offerings to be able to
complete construction. If you are able to help, you
can give an offering towards construction of the
Jireh School on the Assemblies of God secure
website. Please specify “Project 7795, Jireh School”
in the comments field. Or you can send your offering
to:
