Cheerful Giving: LACC Christmas 2008

“God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound in you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”
—2 Corinthians 9:8-9

We are incredibly privileged each year to be YOUR “good cheer” ambassadors to Panama! It’s really not fair that we get to pass out hundreds of Christmas gifts and watch the cheerful smiles and boundless joy of children as they open the Christmas gifts sent by their Latin America ChildCare sponsors. It’s just one of the “perks” of the job!

Once again, Sherry’s mother spent a month with us in Panama. Her special job each year is to wrap all of the presents. It all begins with watching for sales and making countless trips to the local stores… and do they love to see us coming! Then our small craft room is converted into a workshop and clearinghouse, stuffed with hundreds of presents for the kids. Mom faithfully spends dozens of hours wrapping the gifts and praying for the children.

Then the Christmas parties begin! Words cannot begin to describe the simple joy that so many children experience because of the “good work” of loving LACC sponsors. Thank you so much! Uncertain economic times may challenge our cheerful giving. It certainly seems like right now the emphasis has turned inward to our own need. Today we don’t hear much about windfall, but lots of talk of shortfall. Enter Paul’s wise words and God’s promise: God is able to make all grace abound to you! God’s supply is our windfall so that there will be no shortfall of good work. God help us stay positive with an “all things at all times” attitude!

Thanks for helping brighten up the lives of hundreds of children in Panama. Thank you for allowing God’s grace to flow through you into the life a boy or girl.
