Educational Leaders
Convene for Triennial Meeting
By Rod Boyd
Forty international leaders from 17
Spanish-speaking countries convened for the triennial
meeting of the Latin American Christian Education
Ministries, September 4-7 in Managua, Nicaragua. I have the
privilege of serving on the educational ministries
administrative committee as Advisor to the Spanish-speaking
Bible schools.
The administrative committee is comprised of ministry
leaders and regional representatives. In addition to the administrative
committee members, each country is allowed to send one educational
representative plus the superintendent. Eight General Superintendents
attended.
As
directors of the Resource and Advisory Center for Latin American Bible
Schools, we depend upon the cooperation and coordination of these
international leaders. We are honored to count them as friends. Our
fellowship is so rich!
The meetings are a mix of reports, business and
information. The administrative committee met on Monday morning to finalize
the meeting agenda and consider last-minute changes in nominees. The
Resource and Advisory Center were presented two significant initiatives.
First, the group approved the creation of a new Certification Program for
Professors and Administrative Personnel for our Bible schools, under the
direction of our ministry.
Considerable
work has been done to put together a series of 10 workshops that will serve
as the core for certifying professors and administrative personnel. An
additional 4 workshops will be developed each year to provide for continuing
education for our professors. The national Bible school directors in each
country will develop these workshops and become the first “trainers.”
Second, the group requested that the Basic Plan that
outlines the Bible school curriculum be reviewed to consider current needs
and program flexibility. The asked the Resource and Advisory Center to
assist with this evaluation.
The Resource and Advisory Center will be hosting a
Leaders’ Dialogue in Panama in March of 2007 where both the certification
program and Basic Plan evaluation will be considered.
Thank you for praying for our ministry in the Resource and Advisory Center
as we provide assistance to the 900 Bible schools and extension sites
throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.
